NHBRC blamed for George building collapse

Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane has told Parliament that the 2024 George building collapse, in which 34 people died, was due to system failures within the National Home Builders Registration Council. The NHBRC is a statutory body, falling under the Department of Human Settlements.
